Emily in Colour

Emily's vivid pet portraits and expressive artwork deserved a site as bold and beautiful as her brushwork. We built a playful, minimal portfolio that puts the art front and centre, with easy browsing and simple commission bookings.
The brief
Emily needed an online gallery and shop for her original paintings and prints. The site had to feel personal, load quickly on phones, and make it obvious how to order a commission without burying the enquiry form.
What we planned
- A clean, image-led layout with no clutter
- A simple shop for originals and prints
- A clear commission enquiry path
- Fast mobile performance
Preparation
We started with the artwork itself. Emily's pieces are bright and detailed, so the design needed to stay out of the way. We chose a white background, generous spacing, and typography that feels handwritten without being hard to read.
The work
We built the site on WordPress with a custom theme so nothing was held back by a template. The gallery loads images in stages to keep pages quick, and the shop uses a straightforward checkout with no forced account creation.
Commission bookings
Visitors can browse past work, pick a size and medium, and send a short brief through the form. We kept the form to a few fields so it takes less than a minute to complete.
The result
Clean, personal and unmistakably Emily. Supporting young artists like her is exactly why Thunderhat exists: great design for people with something special to share.
